White privilege is when animal rights can be the most important cause in your eyes. ie PETA. My Facebook newsfeed being clogged up with white girls bitching about animal abuse in the meat industry, etc.
I’m so glad to see so many non-“white” vegans responding to you and telling you what a fucked up, single minded view this is.
I’d also like to chime in that the largest societies of vegans in the world are non-white people. Also, the largest societies of people that do not eat any animal products at all are non-white. Also, also, the largest societies of people who eat no meat are non-white.
Lastly, but certainly not the least important point here, is that eating animals is a privilege that is bolstered by the exploitation of non-white people who are disadvantaged and/or living in less affluent countries. You can eat animals because those people have no food, their land is polluted beyond measure, and their water is unsafe to drink. You can eat animals because their homes, their livelihoods, are ruined thanks to the animal agriculture industry. You can eat animals because the food that should have and could have gone to feed them instead goes into the mouths of the animals you eat.
Eating animals is a privilege. You are in dire fucking need of educating on how your eating of animals affects non-white people all over the world. It is killing people, and you have the fucking arrogance to sit behind your computer screen and claim that refusing to participate in that kind of world wide exploitation is privilege?
Shut. The fuck. Up.Oh shit, man, look at that. Apparently I can’t care about animal rights AND people living in poor conditions back in my country. I had no idea but thanks for telling me.
This isn’t even calling out white privilege, this is plain ol’ racism. You’re not only erasing all the vegans of color (including the ones that might or might not have also appeared on your Facebook newsfeed), you’re also erasing entire societies of PoC that do not believe in consuming animal products.
I…I can’t even with this.
Do you know the things that got dumped from our grocery list when I was little and we didn’t have one single penny?! I remember going weeks without drinking a cup of milk because one bag was too expensive and there were things that needed to be prioritized. Also, we didn’t always have money for lean steaks -that shit IS privileged- so we had to make soup with stomach and deep fry some lung, intestines or whatever cut was the cheapest that week.
I’m going to end this right here ‘cause I’m starting to shake and I don’t need an anxiety attack this late at night.
There’s also a white person that has been reblogged and called out by several people
but that I refuse to read into their page because I know it will probably make me want to punch a wallclaiming that they have yet to see a PoC compare factory farming to slavery, the holocaust, etc. Dude, really?!? that’s like the most fallacious thing I’ve read all day. I compare factory farming and animal exploitation to all those things and guess what? I will compare the expropriation of farmers by the big meat and dairy corporations in my country to colonialism ‘cause that’s what it fucking is! your 1st world born privilege is showing and it ain’t looking pretty.Reblogging for both of these commentaries.

I’m half African American and not only do I find the comparison between animal enslavement and transatlantic slave trade...
